1981
Jim Skaar earns his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago (now UIC College of Law), passes the Illinois Bar Exam, and begins working as an attorney in Aurora, Illinois.
Jim Skaar joins Smith, Landmeier, Skaar, and Elders P.C. in Geneva, Illinois as a partner.
2006
Jim Skaar opens the Law Office of James D. Skaar (aka Skaar Law Office) in Geneva, Illinois.
2017
Jim's daughter, Laura Skaar, joins the Skaar Law Office team as a clerk in her second year of law school. The firm is officially renamed to Skaar Law Office in anticipation of Laura's possible joining as a partner after graduating law school.
2019
Laura Skaar earns her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago (now UIC College of Law), passes the Illinois Bar Exam, and joins Skaar Law Office as a partner.
2021
Laura becomes managing partner of Skaar Law Office, taking over primary legal and management duties as Jim begins transitioning into retirement.
